Is my family's data private?

Bluntly: your data is never sold, never shared with advertisers or data brokers, and never used for advertising. We also never use any of your family's information to train AI models — our AI provider, Anthropic, is contractually prohibited from doing so. We don't know your children's names — and we don't want to. We never ask for, store, or profile any information about your kids. Everything ties to keywords YOU designate ('PTA', 'U10 soccer', 'Room 14'), and only the two adult account holders have accounts. Children don't have accounts and never interact with the service — The Family Brain is built for parents. Emails are processed only to build your briefing, and we read nothing outside the inbox you designate. The companies that help us run it are named in our privacy policy, and you can have everything deleted at any time by emailing privacy@thefamilybrain.com.

Can I cancel anytime?

Anytime, from Settings → My Family Brain → Billing. No contracts, no cancellation fee. Your briefings stop at the end of the current billing month. Cancelling stops the billing; if you also want your data erased, email privacy@thefamilybrain.com and we'll delete your account and everything associated with it within 30 days.

Can my partner get the briefing too?

Yes. Your household includes up to two adults, and both get every briefing in parallel — by email, in the app, and on the website, at the same time. Briefings go to the two adult account holders only, never to a child.

How does it know which emails are from school?

Accepted Answer

Two ways, your choice. Connect a designated inbox (like the Gmail account where school email lands) and The Family Brain scans it for the keywords you designate — or forward anything to your unique Family Brain address. Either way, only what matches YOUR keywords becomes briefing items.

Email Sweep — what happens to my emails?

It pulls the key dates into your briefing the day an email arrives. Attachments too — a permission slip, a flyer, a PDF schedule gets read in full, and the dates, forms, and supplies land in your calendar, tasks, and lists. If it spots emails that look important but don't match your keywords, Big Brain suggests adding one — one tap.

How do Aria credits work?

Aria is included in your plan — ask anything, anytime, from either adult's account. Quick questions are unlimited for practical purposes; heavier asks like reading a photo or a long attachment use a bit more of your monthly allowance, metered quietly in the background. You'll never do the math, and we'll tell you if you're ever close to a limit.

How do reminders work?

Reminders surface in your briefings and in the app, and checking one off anywhere syncs everywhere — both adults see the same state. They also turn proactive: Big Brain connects the dots across your week — a Wednesday nudge to grab a gift for Saturday's party, a Friday note to wash the uniform — before the scramble starts.

What if my kids change schools or activities mid-year?

Add or remove household keywords anytime in Settings → Family Setup — and Big Brain will notice new patterns on its own (“@wilsonelementary.com keeps showing up — want to track it?”). New keywords show up in the next briefing; removed ones stop immediately.

What if I miss a briefing — can I see past ones?

Every briefing is kept for 30 days in the app and on the website — and you can re-send any of them to your email. After 30 days they're permanently deleted, because briefings mention your kids and we don't keep that around longer than it's useful.

How does the calendar connection actually work?

Accepted Answer

Two paths. (1) OAuth your existing Google / Apple / Outlook calendar — TFB reads it and can write back (e.g. "add a Thursday reminder to buy a birthday gift"). (2) Subscribe to a TFB calendar link — a separate TFB-managed feed your calendar app displays. One-way: TFB writes, you view. The two are complementary — many families do both.

Question 11

How often does TFB refresh my email and calendar?

Accepted Answer

Twice a day — each morning to build your morning briefing, and each evening to catch anything that arrived during the day (a coach's late email, a teacher's last-minute update) so it's in your evening briefing, ready for tomorrow. We don't poll your calendar all day — your phone's battery will thank us.
